Evaluation Q4

4. Who would be the audience for my media product?

This is a link to my target audience planning:

I believe that my target audience has changed between when I was in the planning stage and now. This is because my magazine, although aimed at teenagers, is now relevant to young adults as well since the colour scheme and fonts I have chosen appeal to older people as well. I also believe that the content of my magazine and it's cover lines would appeal more to a young adult aged 20-30 demographic because I haven't used much strong or slang language that would be more in tune with what the current majority of teenagers use. This means that it is more likely to stand out on a shelf of magazines to a young adult but I do still believe that my magazine has a lot of appeal to teenagers.

With regard to gender my magazine has stayed where I originally intended it to be, which is in the middle. I think that my magazine appeals to both genders because the font choice is consistent with the more masculine sans serif fonts which have no serif ends to them. Meanwhile I believe that my house style is relatively neutral in that there's no black which is what Kerrang! has that appeals to males, and there's also very little in the way of pinks, purples or yellows which are the colours that females stereotypically prefer.

The main audience for my media product would be males and females from all backgrounds in the 15-30 age category. I believe that this is good thing when compared to my original planned target audience which had a narrower age range because it means that my magazine is going to appeal to a bigger variety of people and also a larger number of people.
